About the Event

Our final act of the 2018-2019 season

Join the DLFNY and tour the iconic Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, completed in 1966 and designed by renowned modernist architect Wallace K. Harrison. Resident Lighting Designer John Froelich will take us through the many aspects of the lighting of this theater both in front of the stage as well as behind the curtain, seeing the public spaces and ones the public can’t get to.

The Grand Lobby and the dramatic Grand Staircase
The 21 crystal chandeliers, a gift to Lincoln Center from the Austrian Government
The Murals “The Triumph of Music” and “The Sources of Music” by famed artist Marc Chagall
The back stage areas
The multiple basements and stages with 7 hydraulic elevators
This is a special afternoon event with limited space, open to DLFNY members only.
