SUMMARY:Into the Skyline: Lighting 270 Park Avenue
DESCRIPTION:Join the Designers Lighting Forum of New York for a special evening celebrating the illumination of 270 Park Avenue\, JPMorgan Chase’s striking new midtown headquarters designed by Foster + Partners. We’ll gather on the roof terrace of the Kimberly Hotel for cocktails and skyline views directly facing the tower\, where the building’s dynamic facade lighting Celestial Passage\, by Leo Villareal\, comes to life after dark. \nAs the tallest all-electric tower in NYC\, 270 Park Avenue pushes the limits on what the office of the future can look like. The nearly 2.5 million square foot building is home to JP Morgan Chase\, and hosts a wide variety of programmatic requirements that support this dynamic workplace\, including trading floors\, food halls\, conference centers\, amenity spaces\, and more. In addition to the lofty sustainability goals of the project (i.e. LEED Platinum)\, the building also implemented circadian lighting as a means of providing a greater sense of well-being for all occupants. The facade lighting of the building is also a unique feature for this latest addition to the iconic midtown skyline – it elegantly features the structural frame of the building all while serving as a canvas for specialty artwork that the entire city can enjoy. \nScott Baillie-Hinojosa and Eduardo Zepeda with Tillotson Design Associates\, the lighting design firm for the projects interior and exterior\, will share behind-the-scenes insight into the design process\, technical challenges\, and creative collaboration behind bringing light to one of the tallest additions to New York. Following the rooftop presentation\, guests will break into small groups for a guided walking tour around the exterior base of the tower\, offering a look at lobby lighting details and public realm. \nDrinks\, light food\, and socializing begin at 6pm.
